Welcome, and thank you for visiting Addis Kidan Church of San Francisco  online. We hope that our website highlights the wide variety of worship, fellowship and service opportunities available. Please feel free to read more about our church on this site, or come in for a visit. We would love to greet you and share with you our love for Jesus Christ and for you, our neighbor.

The beginning of Christ-Centered spiritual activity by Ethiopians and Eritreans in the city of San Francisco dates back to the mid-1980s. A few devoted believers residing in the city began praying in homes, streets and even the beautiful hills of San Francisco. This evolved into a weekly Bible study that met in different homes and grew into a vibrant fellowship where many people got saved, grew in their spiritual walk and were comforted. This became the foundation for Addis Kidan Ethiopian and Eritrean Church of San Francisco. The vision to plant the church began with three brothers; Brother Admassu Zeleke, Brother Eyob Gizaw and Pastor Tesfai Tesema. They started to pray and discuss seeking God’s guidance about the possibility of a Church in the city sometime in January 2011. By March 2011 they invited four other fellow home bible study participants, Brothers Genene Hailu, Daniel Admassu, Girma Aligaz and Sister Fantaye Yehwolashet to pray with them. Six months later on July 26, 2011, under God’s guidance these seven leaders led the Tuesday evening home bible study to start meeting at a storefront on Webster Street, San Francisco.  On January 8, 2012, this team launched the first Sunday morning service and named the church Addis Kidan, “New Testament” church. The church is affiliated with the CNH District of the Lutheran Church Missouri Synod who support this new congregation.  The church continues to grow in numbers and ministry. We are seeing the Lord bless us mightily in areas of worship and witness and seeing the transformative power of the Holy Spirit active among us. We invite you to come and worship with us. Our services are conducted in Amharic.

Our Mission

We believe that the door to salvation is always open and so are the doors to our church. Our mission is to be fully devoted to Jesus by opening our arms to those in search of the truth. We show God’s love and concern for our fellow man at every opportunity. Through works of charity and opening our doors to listen and love, we feel that we are walking in the footsteps of Jesus Christ.

Pastor Tesfai Tesema ,Phd.
